On our way to Bergen we stopped at Bordalsgjelet, a narrow gorge near the town of Voss through which the river Bordalselvi flows before emptying into Vangsvatnet, There is a narrow walkway built into the side of the gorge and though it was raining, we went into the gorge and then to other viewpoints near the river's exit from the gorge.

This is the Little Belt Mountain Anemone, Anemone lithophilia, growing on the Niblet, a ridge we climbed on our recent backpacking trip. Having backpacked to Lake Magog, we spent two days and nights there and went day-hiking one of the days to the Niblet with its views of Mount Assiniboine, Sunburst Peak, Sunburst Lake and Cerulean Lake. We had not seen a lot of wildflowers on our hike, but there were quite a few at the Niblet.

Scrabo Tower is a folly or memorial tower near Comber in County Down, Northern Ireland. It stands 135 feet tall (41 meters) and overlooks Strangford Lough and County Down. It was built in the 1850's as a memorial to Charles Vane, Third Marquess of Londonderry and is now part of a county park. Due to moisture damage the tower is closed at present. The photo was taken from nearby Castle Espie Wetland Center as was the first inset. The second inset is an older film photo taken in the county park.

On one of our excursions while in Nortern Ireland we visited Castle Espie Wetland Center and hiked the trails there. This photo is taken across part of Stranford Lough with Scrabo Hill and Scrabo Tower in the background.

After two nights and day near Voringsfossen we made our way to Bergen. The drive along Eidfjord and on to Bergen was beautiful and we made several stops and detours along the way, this waterfall on one of the detours. The waterfall is named Skjervsfossen. It was raining at the falls and the spray from the falls was blowing our way so we were quite wet when we returned to the car.

This was one of the many tunnels we went through in Norway, the longest of which was 25 kilometers. This one was much shorter but had a roundabout in the tunnel which I managed to photograph as we made our way from Eidfjord to Bergen.

I know that I've posted quite a few photos of this slot canyon, but my fascination with such places has me looking again through my photos and that has led to a couple more posts, this one showing the colors and textures of the rock in a shallower part of the canyon. The canyon is in Utah, east of Zion National Park and our hike there last spring was a rather difficult hike of six miles through deep sand. The hike was worthwhile, though, a hike I would do again, and the canyon spectacular as the photo shows.

This is another photo from Peek-a-boo Canyon, a slot canyon in Utah east of Zion National Park. My wife and I hiked there last spring, a rather difficult hike of six miles through deep sand. This was one of the deeper parts of the canyon and the person is my wife.
