This is the harbor in Stavanger, Norway. We had our evening meal at a restaurant here after finding our accommodations and walking down to the harbor. The harbor area was very busy with hundreds of tourists from the cruise ship in the background.

When we reached Stavanger we found our accomodations and then went to the harbor area for our evening meal. We ate at a restaurant near the harbor, Fisketorget, and had this bottle of cider with the meal. The meal and cider were delicious but expensive.

The Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, or Down Cathedral, is a Church of Ireland cathedral in the city of Downpatrick in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is reputed to be the site of St. Patrick's grave. Parts of the cathedral date to the 13th Century. The building as it now stands was consecrated in 1829. We visited the cathedral and a number of other places in the area while at a conference in nearby Castlewellan. The inset shows St. Patrick's grave. Though not visible in the photo there is a Celtic cross and some of the letters of the name Patrick, on the a stone.

This is reputed to be the site of St. Patrick's remains, though there are other claims as well. The stone was placed there in the Twentieth Century to prevent visitors taking handfuls of dirt from the grave site. The stone is inscribed with a cross and the name Patrick and lies outside Down Cathedral in the city of Downpatrick in County Down, Northern Ireland.

On our way from Trolltunga to Stavanger we did the hike to Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), the most popular hike in Norway. The hike is 5.5 miles (9+ km) with an elevation gain of 1770 feet (540 m). Pulpit Rock towers nearly 2000 feet (604 m) above Lysefjord. The hike is a pleasant excursion with spectacular views at the end of the hike. It can, however, be very busy, as it was when we were there with a crowded trail and people waiting in line to have their photo taken at the end of the rock.

When we did the hike the trail and Pulpit Rock itself were very busy with people waiting in line to walk out to the end of the rock and have their photo taken. This photo is of one of the ponds along the trail which is visible on the top right of the photo.

This photo was taken in the Annesley Walled Gardens and Arboretum, part of Castlewellan Forest Park in County Down. We attended a conference at Castlewellan Castle, formerly the residence of the Annesley family and now a Christian conference center. The castle is in the forest park and next to the arboretum and gardens which were established by the Annesleys and are now the National Arboretum of Northern Ireland. The forest park and castle lie at the foot of the Mourne Mountains on the edge of the town of Castlewellen.

When in Northern Ireland recently we attended a conference at Castlewellan Christian Conference Center in County Down. The castle, formerly the residence of the Annesley family, is now in a forest park that includes the arboretum and walled gardens established by the Annesleys. The arboretum is the National Arboretum of Northern Ireland., It, the arboretum, the forest park and the castle lie at the foot of the Mourne Mountains in County Down "where the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea."
