What puzzles me greatly is the sign with the contradictory curved arrows saying 'Center Lane Only'
It would take me a month of Sundays to work it out and I would cause no end of accidents in the meantime!
Especially when the exit sign seems to encourage you to drive straight into the post for the advertising sign!

When you visit her, allow Diane to do the driving. ;-)

Hahaha! As he would have to do if I visited the UK!

I am reminded to finally ask someone of the British persuasion: what is the meaning of those large zig-zags painted on roads in some places? They look so distracting, since I wouldn't have a clue... I'd have no business driving there, anyway!

That sign is meant for traffic on the road, not for people pulling into or out of DQ. It simply means you have to use the center lane (the space between the yellow stripes) to make turns. You can't turn left from where that car is, for example, or you will be honked at and get a ticket if a cop sees you. You cannot use it as a normal driving lane, either. Also, it notifies you that other cars might be using it for the same purpose, so watch the h__l out, Andy.

It's quite simple. They are painted on the road for about 20 yards either side of a zebra crossing (priority pedestrian crossing place). It's to increase visibility for both car drivers and pedestrians at such places. No stopping allowed ever, at all, at any time, on pain of summary execution (or worse - exile to Tr..p-land?).

The DQ sign and the left turn sign sorta have the same design.

Well, that's so clever of them! Or, one of the parties should probably be sued for copyright infringement. Oh, what am I thinking, that's California I'm talking about and I now live in Oregon. I just CAN'T get used to it...lol!

I'd eaten there, probably about 10-15 years ago. If my memory is correct, it was that last fast-food before a very long stretch of open road. The food wasn't memorable.

You are correct on both counts. The menu has improved in the past two years, as they have for all fast-food chains, but it's like graduating from 5th to 6th grade (hehe...).

8 years in Spain now and only one KFC meal and one MacDonald's burger in all that time.
I really am quite ashamed at all the damage I am causing the global economy!

HAHAHA! Really, Andy, no wonder Spain's economy is still a mess! I heard today on the radio that Starbucks has opened, finally, in Italy. I was outraged and I hope it is boycotted. WHY on earth would Italy allow this stupidity? They will put the small ones out of business. And, it's not enough for them to have coffee and a little food...they are making gelato, too! Look at the extravaganza, they are intentionally out to destroy Italy's coffee culture: mymodernmet.com/starbucks-milan-opening American mega-corporations rarely mean well. Grrrrr!

Sad to say but Starbuck's coffee is often better than what the Spanish are used to, so it does well here. But IN ITALY????!!!!!
