Kidston Lighthouse

Kidston Lighthouse
Taken from the shoreline of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Kidston Island Lighthouse is a lighthouse on Kidston Island, within the Bras d’Or lakes. The original lighthouse was built in 1875 but this present lighthouse was built in 1912 and the two stood side by side for some time.
Made of wood, this looks quite different from any lighthouse I have seen over here in the UK.

Aye, these North American lighthouse are quite different for sure. Not very sure why they needed a lighthouse here other than island is pretty low and might have proven to be a shipping hazard in itself. A very big stretch of water that channels into the sea at the south via a canal. but via a few channels in the North. It surface area is 1099 sq km.
