Rossbeigh blues

Rossbeigh blues
The onset of evening and the late sun lights up these splendid poles. The tide is almost fully out now but will end up covering these. The lighting here has a strange effect of lighting the falling waves in an almost painting-like effect, ever changing, that we could watch for hours here.
Another from my County Kerry series.

Best viewed full screen. +pips

Instant favorite :)

Was it some sort of pier there?

Hi and thanks Marta. I can't find any mention of a pier being here in its histories but it sure looks like one. Interestingly, in 2014 a storm had uncovered a long lost schooner shipwreck in the sands here but this is not it. It has since been re-buried! Very happy that you liked this one.

Thanks Roger. The question still hangs in the air as to whether these are simply Groynes or something else perhaps. Glad you liked them. ~ Herb

I really like the light in this shot Herb..........it's absolutely heavenly! I like the old wooden groyne posts standing like sentinels looking out over the ocean! Beautifully captured!

I like the images in the PiPs too........especially in the last one which has a very ethereal feel to it!

Great to see you again Keith. It was the light that attracted me to them this evening. You can also see via the PiPs how the light changed on the hour here. Very happy that you enjoyed this and the Pips too.

Was that a pier? According to the first PIP it seems not. Great photos!

Good to see you again Eva. I have asked the same question too. At first I thought they must be groynes but to be doubled up like this suggest a walkway of sorts. I cannot find any history of this being a pier though. As you say, looking again at the first pip, there are too many of them to suggest a pier too - again back to the groyne theory :)
Glad you enjoyed it all the same. ~ Herb

Hi Herb

I really like this composition. I'm guessing that it was some kind of little jetty at one time..

Best Wishes, and a good Easter weekend
Peter

Herb Riddle club has replied to Peter_Private_Box club
Hi again Peter. A long on-going discussion now -Jetty or Groynes. When one looks just at this, it looks like it must be a jetty but when you see the whole beach here as in the PiPs you can then see it must have been groynes. I did some research but nowhere could I find a reference to a jetty. Anyway, great that you liked it.

Have a great Easter my friend. ~ Herb
