... I've seen some of the Drurys' viaduct shots (back on Pano) ... y'all must have a number of photogenic railroad viaducts to chose from ...
... I do enjoy this shot: the repetition of the arches and the huge sweep of the railbed, punctuated by the distant train ...

Hi Wally, nice to see you again too and very happy that you enjoy this train viaduct shots. Yes we have quite a few of these, especially in my hilly part of the world in the north of England. In fact there is a nice viaduct in the village just a couple of miles away from my home but more famously we have the 'Ribble Viaduct' which I see at least once a year about 50 miles away. I have just too realised whilst writing this that I caught some more modern trains on that the last time I was there this Summer but have yet still to post so I shall attend to that shortly. Steam specials also go over that one and I have seen some great photos but I have never got close with one there.

Excellent shot, Herb! We never managed this shot, being either on the train at the time, in Glenfinnan at the wrong time, or in Glenfinnan at the wrong place!

Hi Rabbit, sorry for not having noticed your comment for so long. I know what you mean about being in the right place at the wrong time etc. I imagine there are times and dates when you cannot get onto the car-park too. Glad you liked it.

I admire the creativity here!
You knew it would be tender first, and so found a place which would show the locomotive reasonably, but more important, you got fantastic light through the arches.
A great picture of the viaduct, which the train brings to life!

Thanks for this trip Peter. The same but different to yours. I think you know, my main love is for landscapes and so without the train I searched for the best view and light of the viaduct. When the train came I was surprised at the scaling of train verses viaduct. I took a few of this trian as it passed but I liked this the best. I got another train just minutes before going engine first though. Glad you liked it. It would be nice to re-visit this place for a shot from your spot but very doubtful for a good number of years I think.

Thanks for this. Yes a fabulous view either to take photos from the hill or to be on-board. Glad you liked it. (My brother took this trip once, without seeing a thing as all the inside windows were misted up in the very wet weather.)
