Freesia In the Rain.....

A beautiful close-up, Steve. The rain may have been unwanted, but the water droplets do complement the image which suits WPD very well.

Rain was not what I ordered but what we got but shows the world its not always clear and sunny down under. Although I do believe the water brings a lot to the image. Many thank be warned its coming your way...

Seems quite strange to see black clouds and heavy rain with you as our part of the world cooks and rivers run dry. Great series here.

The new is its still falling down as well, great for the ducks thats for sure. After this winter I will have to make a trip to go look at the dams and see just how if any the water level has changed. We hope you get some rain soon. All the best from the west.

I know just what you mean I went shopping only to walk out into torrential rain I had figure that gave longer that it turned out. I know that I understand your thoughts as well stuck inside. The freesias are certainly starting to flower here. The pot is full of them starting to show This one had the background for it to stand out. I know we have more rains coming.... Many thanks.

Its still very much the same there has been no end to the rain certainly a bright colour.

The droplet bottom of petal on the right has a lovely reflection !

Happy World Photography Day

One of our fav Flowers and it did not take much to make more. we have a variety of colours this by far the most vivid. I do think the Rain just made the shot as well.

What a delight to see your season here for World Photography Day event. I look forward to our season changing and getting back to full on clouds (not just wisps) and plenty of rain.

You have a great eye for nature photos, and show that off well with the three different types here.

I totally love freesias. Their smell is so divine! I don't think they will grow for me and I'm so curious how yours is blooming right now, you must have a green thumb for sure.

Do you use different cameras for the different type photos (macro, distant, etc)? Or does your camera accommodate the different views you like to photograph?

Remember I am in the Southern Hemisphere so we are ending winter, a whole different season to the Northern Hemisphere. I am lucky that I have a selection of lens to choose from 14mm all the way up to a 600mm zoom. So the camera records the scene the camera sees the only lens that is a real special lens is the 14mm pure night time lens Eg milky way bows. That is pure manual lens so its taped at infinity no chance of getting it wrong or accidently moving it. The two lens used here are my walk around lens 24-120mm and my 105mm macro lens a really good lens as you can see by the yellow flowers and the green native plants.

The single packet we bought 5 years a go has produced a lot of flowers. All the houses we have rented has a little bit of us left behind in the form of freesias and always a very heady scent. All my roses also have to have scent as that just finished them off on a warm still day. A rose with no scent is not really a rose at all.

I had hope the forecast was not going to be as bad but it was a real torrent. This and last winter have been some of the wettest on record. I am over the clouds and rains. Not must astro photography this winter.

I do remember you are in the Southern Hemisphere. I just thought it would early for you to have spring flowers. I thought they might be more ready in mid September or October.

And yes, obviously a good lens has been used. I always prefer non-zoom lenses. Helps me not have too many choices (and they do tend to be better lenses).

How fun to leave a bit of you behind in the way of flowers. And I so agree with roses needing a scent. One of Portland's nick names is The Rose City. We have an international test garden on the hill at the edge of downtown - sadly not all of them have a scent, but many do.

Fabulous golden Freesias. So much rain across Australia, breaking records... It has cleared now in NSW, and we have a glorious day today.

We still have rains and will for a good week more , I have to go look at some of the dams that where very low to see the change. Has been wet like my very first year in WA then its got drier and drier. I did not really have much to go and get a photo of but flowers are a sign of what's to come spring and a guess a hot summer to match the wet winter.

This is a great contribution to WPD! Rain motifs can be so beautiful, Steve! :)
