HFF from Berwick. I'm away for a few days. See you all next Thursday.
Photo taken underneath the Old Berwick Bridge, a Grade I listed stone bridge built between 1611 and 1624, spanning 355 metres (1,164 feet) with 15 arches and a width of 17 feet (5.2 m), and constructed from Tweedmouth Red Sandstone.
The second bridge is he Royal Tweed Bridge, opened in 1928 by Edward, Prince of Wales, is a reinforced concrete road bridge. It was designed to accommodate increasing motor traffic and held the record for the longest single concrete span in the UK at the time.
The third bridge is the Royal Border Bridge, a railway viaduct designed by Robert Stephenson and opened in 1850. It carries the East Coast Mainline over the Tweed and features 28 elegant arches, providing a striking view of Berwick-upon-Tweed and the surrounding estuary.
