Karaj legantoj kaj geamikoj, Mi plezuriĝas prezenti al vi la sekvan epizodon de via felietono, kiun mi ĵus esperantigis el la franca romano "Quand les Sirènes se taisent" (1933). La eventoj de tiu rakonto okazas en norda Francio, tuj apud Lilo (Lille) en la komenco de la jaroj 1930aj. La romano temas pri la granda striko en la fabrikoj de Roubaix-Tourcoing, kaj priskribas la tiaman vivon en malriĉaj familioj... Komence de tiuj teruraj tempoj Laure kaj Jacques enamiĝas... Karaj geamikoj, Eble surprizas vin la silento de nia samideano kaj amiko NOĈJO LAGRAFO (Noël Leconte)... Bedaŭrinde, dum nia hieraŭa interparolado per telefono, li klarigis, ke jam de tri semajnoj li troviĝas en hospitalo apud Tuluzo pro grava malsano. Mi multe pensas pri li kaj tutkore deziras al li rapidan resanigon...

Maxence Van der Meersch naskiĝis en norda Francio (Roubaix, apud Lillo) en1907, kaj mortis en 1951 (Le Touquet). En 1932, kun tuja sukceso estis eldonita lia unua romano "La Maison dans la Dune" (kiun mi jam tradukis : "La Domo inter la Dunoj"). En 1936, lia verko "L'Empreinte du Dieu" ("La Signo de l' Dio") gajnis la Premion Goncourt. Li skribis entute dudekon da romanoj, kiuj plejofte ricevis grandan sukceson. La regiono ne forgesis lin kaj donis lian nomon al multaj lernejoj kaj stratoj. Kun plezuro, mi intencas esperantigi kaj (felietone) prezenti al vi tiun ĉi elstaran romanon - "Quand les Sirènes se taisent" = "Kiam silentas la sirenoj" (1933) - kiu temas pri fabrikistoj travivantaj teruran strikon dum la jaroj 1930. (La verkiston oni kelkfoje nomis "la norda Zola")... Mi tutkore deziras al vi agrablan legadon!
