Very well spotted. It is quite well camouflaged, but I suspect the blue water pipe helped to draw your attention. Nice one Isabel,..!!

Oh, the toad is so cute ;-) I took a photo of one several years ago in Southern France, on the terrace of our vacation apartment and the poor thing got scared. I felt so sorry and I hope my calming it down in a soothing voice cheered it up :-)

Surely did, animals understand more than we think. I never use flash, so this was natural light, the toad didn't even notice me !

I didn't either, but the toad must have noticed me and wasn't happy about the camera. And so true about animals understanding more than we think. I'm amazed how much my friend's little bristlenose ancistrus (ancistri?) understand. They know their names and you can actually see them think when they have an idea :-)) And they often have ideas, for example to rearrange the interior of the aquarium :-))) They're so cute and smart. And two of them even enjoy being hand-fed, in addition to their food they like to nibble on my fingers. And they know who feeds them and the different people's voices. And they do react positively when I talk to them to calm them down (after they've had a fight with each other). Just like the toad did (that got upset about my camera).

I had a Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus , American cichlid) in a 300l aquarium at home. He knew me, wanted to be cuddled, fed by hand. Jumped in the water when I approached the aquarium in an welcoming dance! When someone unknown visited me he laid flat in the sand a lost colors, like a chameleon. He was chocolate brown with orange spots, a most beautiful specimen. Lived 15 years..
