Min Buri an amazing quarter of Bangkok

The district was once a province established in 1901 during King Chulalongkorn period consisting of Amphoe Khlong Sam Wa, Amphoe Saen Saep, Amphoe Nong Chok, and amphoe Jian Dab (เจียรดับ). The name Min Buri (meaning city of fish) was chosen to go with the existing Thanyaburi Province (meaning city of rice).
This set is particularly posted for my friends in the forum of the German language TIP newspaper in Thailand. I was asked to research this amazing quarter of Bangkok which usually isn't known much by foreigners and tourists who only know the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market 120 km outside from Bangkok as the attraction of the metropole.
Minburi only has a view hotels and only insider visitors come to enjoy this clean and friendly part of the ultra great mega town Bangkok. Many of my friends coming from Germany to spend their holidays in Thailand just stay one or two days in Bangkok and say, that a longer stay in this ugly and dirty town here is wasting of the value holidays time.
They don't know Min Buri! both of my children went to an international school which was located in Min Buri for more than 10 years. But during this long period I never have seen the town as beautiful as I've had the last excursion with a long tail boat going through the Khlongs from Min Buri to Lard Krabang an other quarter in the suburb of Bangkok. Have a look to the photos and you'll see: Bangkok still has beautiful places.
After 10 months in Januar 2010 I visited Minburi again and added some mor photos from this three-hours-excursion. Contrary to of many negative future prospects I heard from different Bangkokian habitants, the Klong Sam Wah we visited still is one of the nicest canals with a quaint background. No much pollution and foul water will soon detroy the Klongs atmosphere like many other Klongs in Bangkok sufer under this heavy problem.
