View to Guantánamo Bay US Naval Base
The closes way to visit into the US enclave Guantánamo Bay is the Kuban Mirador de Malones.
Its about 7 kilometers to the border of the enclave.
In 1903, Cuba signed a treaty that leased Guantánamo Bay to the United States for use as a Naval Station, with the understanding that this would reduce the military footprint of the US on the island. One rent check was cashed after the Cuban Revolution, but the Government of Cuba has declined to negotiate or return all subsequent checks.
The 99 years lease contract expired in 2002. So the US remain illegal on Cuban territory, this its the real fact.
