Nightlife in the Old Market

Pub Street is now beginning to resemble the party towns of Thailand with throbbing music, wandering crowds, boisterous backpackers, hawkers, prostitutes, and touts. It is amazing how quickly these developments have taken place. There are now quite a number of bars open into the small hours.

I've been active for an ngo which tries to improve the fate of women who sell beer in Siem Reap, and who are treated like disposable promotion material by the major international breweries rather than as human beings (or even empoloyees) - make sure not to drink any Heineken out there, they've known about this since 2001 but prefer to hide behind "local traditions" in order to maximise profit
