4414. Cove Street Port Maitland N. S.
R. H. Davis & Co, Yarmouth, N.S., posted August 17, 1908 to Mr. Wm H. Tritz, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, U.S.A., Washington, near Cornwall St.

"Friend Tritz, You see we are in Nova Scotia. Port Maitland, it is a beautiful place 12 miles from Yarmouth. Regards to mother, wife + girl, Yours truly, E. Peabody Gerry."

Given the very High Bostonian sound of the name "E. Peabody Gerry", I Googled the name and found a reference to Dr. Edwin Peabody Gerry (1846-1912) of Phillipston, Mass. The handwriting on this card looks very much like a stereotype of scratchy, half-legible physician's handwriting.

Dr. Gerry sprung for an attractive Cartier-Champlain "IIIe Centenaire de Québec" 1608-1908 stamp as well.
