Yes unfortunately its a moorland fire

Just hearing about this on the local radio. Hoping that no farms and houses are in harms way.

It seemsto be just moorland at the moment but a big area and wildlife will have been hit badly. Fire Services making good progress ( they say)

A cracking little documentary series of images of this fire Colin.......I especially like this one. In fact, if I didn't know it was a fire, I would be remarking on the odd cloud formations. The detail and colours are spot on!

Just seeing this on the news, inevitable I suppose with this dry heat we are all experiencing, Thetford Forest where I am is on full fire watch alert.

yes there comes a point when they should just say to the general public the moors are closed. There are just too many possible causes of fire in these conditions.

We get more than our fair share in Spain. But hopefully with an overly wet Spring, we'll get fewer this year.

Having been watching this on the news the past two days, I'm wondering how close this is to where you live Colin? Not to close with any luck, but if you are I hope you are OK.

not very close - one major valley away but before the wind changed we were breathing in the smoke the first day.

Good to hear you're OK mate. The firefighters are doing a sterling job in dangerous conditions and I think the deployed military will be a great help. Hope they get it sorted soon..!!
