Potsdam war das Domizil von Königen und Kaisern. Da hat man sich an einigen Stellen Laternen mit Krönchen gegönnt.

Beautiful architecture..........and some of it very ornate. I love the colour of the stonework, especially in the building on the right. The street lamps are beautiful, especially with the crowns on top. I'm guessing (if they are original) that they would have been gas-fired?

Diese Laternen sind Nachbildungen historischer Laternen. Einige Laternen hier am Alten Markt tragen Kronen. Diese sechseckigen Laternen nennt man Schinkelleuchte. Sie wurde von dem berühmten preußischen Architekten Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781 - 1841) entworfen. Die historischen Originale waren vermutlich Gaslampen.
HFF von Schloss Belvedere (2 PiPs)
Schinkel entwarf als 19-Jähriger den Pomonatempel (oben im Bild), sein erstes Bauwerk.
