Beton ist immer noch der Baustoff der Stunde. Schnell zu verarbeiten und schnell im Verfall. Nichts für die Ewigkeit; aber wer will das auch im Moment. So schauen wir uns also die unansehnliche Fassaden mit ihren Macken und Verfärbungen an. Schnell wird ein Palast zum Lost Place und ehe man sich versieht, verschwindet er wieder aus der Blickfläche und macht dem nächsten Prachtbau Platz !

This looks like your zebra, seen very very closely, and without its beautiful curves ;)
This imperative to build as cheaply as possible leads to the devastation of beaches and deserts in poor countries, where workers are underpaid...
Not to mention the precariousness of its construction, as you point out.
Concrete has its virtues, of course, but its ravages make me agree with your words, once again, Ulrich.
