Ranakpur. "Watch out for wild leopards". Many people are still killed each year by leopards in India. We walked this road quite a bit...but not at night when the leopards prowl.

Genetically a different species from the African lion, this critically endangered Asiatic lion was reduced by 1900 to 12 individuals. It survives in just one place in the world, Sasan Gir National park in Gujarat, India, where there are now around 400 ....game is plentiful, and they hunt and kill prey. If you are very lucky, you may see one or two when you go in by small open jeep. I got lucky.
