Egret Among the Ruins

Bright white objects have always been a challenge for me. Here, I am using b/w and a blue filter to balance out the exposure, with mixed results.

I like it Sarah , I think its spot on. Have you tried a green filter, I use that a lot in my mono shots? Blue can sometimes be very harsh. This is lovely though , a perfect moment in time

Thank you -- coming from an expert bird photographer, that is a great compliment. I don't have the kind of equipment (or time -- or patience!) to do real bird photography, and there are so many wonderful images out there that it feels somewhat futile to even get started ... static subjects are much easier! But this egret apparently wanted to be in the shot, so I took advantage of it :-)
