The enormous impact we have on the environment
Everything we do leaves a trace behind and rarely can we see it in such a drastic fashion.
This is an open-pit coal mining operation near the german town of Garzweiler. That town no longer exists and more towns are going to be razed & swallowed by these gigantic excavators.
As a reference you can see a tiny white dot at the bottom floor -- that's a large pickup truck. This pit is ~150m deep
