"The Climb" at Uluru as seen in March 2017 (but closed at the time due to high temperatures). Not my cup of tea anyway, so I can't really say I am sorry that since 26th October 2019 the climb is officially forbidden. Personally, I prefer looking at Uluru by walking around it, or even better, from above during a helicopter scenic flight :-)

Special K has replied to Diana Australis clubIt is very welcome that finally a sign has been set of respect to the Aborigines and their culture.
Special K has replied to * ઇઉ * clubIt was really good to see that the authorities finally decide to respect the wishes of the indigenous peoples and impose a ban in climbing this sacred site. It's just a shame they took so long!

Nochmal HFF!
Many thanks for all your kind comments, I am very pleased that you like my photo so much!
Liebe Grüße / kind regards, Karin
When we walked way past the cairn where everyone else stopped. We observed many pools of water with a small variety of creatures swimming in them and small plants growing near them. You would never see these from a helicopter. Another interesting thing was that a man in his early 20s appeared in that area having climbed up the side of the rock.
How can you experience the immensity and detail of the Rock just by looking at it from a distance?
