Group description how-to

Each language should become added on a separate language specific form provided on the group settings. Don't forget to save the changes! This is my second attempt to explain how to provide separate description on multiple languages. Moreover, notice that the title can be given in multiple languages as well. This is useful to make sure that the group will appear on the search results in case someone uses their own language to search for the groups. Try for example these searches: www.ipernity.com/search/group?w=0&q=challenge www.ipernity.com/search/group?opt=&q=defis www.ipernity.com/search/group?w=0&q=Herausforderung On ipernity group guidelines it is also adviced not to use special characters on the group title (e.g. #, *, >> etc.). Some have used this to force their groups appear on top of the alphabetical 'Add to a group' list. But imagine this. If all would do the same, then it turns out as a futile attempt to stand out from the crowd.

Testing Screencastify for making "ipernity howto"…

11 Sep 2020 4 2 253
The subject is "How to customize your homepage". First the basics: 1) Go to " Content of your home page " settings. 2) Use green plus to add block(s). 3) Grab on the block header to change it's place. Over the block header, press the mouse cursor down, keep it pressed, and then start moving the block. Then release the mouse cursor to leave the block where you want it. 4) Do not forget to SAVE! Do notice the default "Latest photos and videos posted" block is fixed. It's place can be changed, but it can't be removed. It also turns from large images to small ones when it is not the only block on the homepage. ---- Details of the video This video was created with Screencastify . It is probably available as a Chrome browser extension only. It is free to use up to 5 minute videos. On Screencastify there are tools to share and download videos in multiple ways. I converted the video onto mp4 format, downloaded it, and then uploaded it here at ipernity. This short video takes 9 megabytes space at the server. If you are planning to do similar videos, then be prepared for uploads that can take a lot of time, and keep the videos short to save your personal space at ipernity. And if you do "ipernity howto" instructions by yourself, then please use the "ipernity howto" keyword.

Good to know if/when sharing videos

Good news! Adobe Flash player is no longer required to play videos and embedded Deezer soundtracks on desktop computers and laptops. Thanks to Rob, HTML5 video tag is now used to run video and audio files. Technical information of this video Duration 32 sec Image Height 1080 Image Width 1920 Major Brand MP4 v2 [ISO 14496-14] Video Frame Rate 30 frames per sec Data Size 72 MB Full details ➽ It is pretty easy to upload videos to your ipernity account. You can upload videos just like any other files. However, video files are really large, and therefore uploading to rather "slow" ipernity servers takes time and space! And of course you also need to have Standard or Plus subscription here at ipernity in order to upload such large files as videos usually are. To upload this video took approximately 8 minutes on WiFi connection. For faster uploads and to decrease the use of storage space, it would be better to compress the videos somehow. For example there are some iPhone and Android apps for video compression available, if you are using smart phone. There are also all kinds of video compression software for computers . You can also consider whether you really need to shoot in full HD 1920×1080 px quality in the first place. VGA 640x480 px can be enough for videos shared on web pages . For example on my older video taken with Panasonic DMC-TZ60 thanks to lower resolution the file size was only 8 MB for 15 second video. So, check out if you can change the settings for lower video resolution on your camera. This test video was filmed on and uploaded from my smart phone. The video is so called full HD video, which of course is more or less the standard these days. But if one plans to start shooting videos on regular bases, I say ipernity really is not the best place to upload, store and share video files. Therefore I personally recommend YouTube instead. I know many hates anything Google related, but if you do have Google account, then you can also use Youtube. If you do, then you can easily also share your videos here on ipernity blog articles. For that I have also published a quick tutorial: ➽ How to embed video onto blog article

File size only 3.2 MB on seven second video when shooting VGA 640x380 px quality. In my opinion that is good enough for web. Besides, I like the good old VGA 4:3 aspect ratio more. ➽ Additional information ➽ Good to know if/when sharing videos ➽ How to embed video onto blog article (updated)
