Facing roughly north on the ridge line of the Inyo Mountains. The left of the photo shows Owens Valley and the Sierra. The right side of the photo is Saline Valley where you can see the white area of travertine where the hot springs are located. Best viewed large. The center of the photo is the remains of the transfer station for the salt tram. Salt was brought from the salt lake in Saline Valley up to here by tram and then transferred to the downhill tram which would deliver it to Owens Valley. Salt was brought from the salt lake in Saline Valley (to the right) up to here by tram and then transferred to the downhill tram which would deliver it to Owens Valley (to the left).
