It was probably no great loss. It had no particular architectural significance and had become a haven for drug users and a potential fire risk.

Actually, the Motel was also designed by architect Albert Frey, which in itself made it significant. Unfortunately it was not structurally sound and therefor could not be saved. I felt fortunate that I was able to be there every moment during demolition to take 100's of pictures. I felt it was important to document the last days and took over 500 pictures in all.

I will be doing the same once the renovation process begins on the yacht club. Out of the ashes a new life will be born.
