Abbot's Hospital Guildford - the High Street entrance and towers
At the top end of the High Street, viewed from Holy Trinity church
is Abbot's Hospital, Guildford, founded by George Abbot in 1619
as the Hospital of the Holy Trinity, one of the finest sets of almshouses
in the country. The brick-built, three-storey entrance tower faces
the church; a stone archway leads into the courtyard.
On each corner of the tower there is an octagonal turret rising an
extra floor, with lead ogee domes.
