Tilford Packhorse Bridge with River Wey in flood - April 2014
Tilford Packhorse Bridge is a medieval bridge over the River Wey,
one of the remaining six 13th Century bridges constructed by
monks from Waverley Abbey near Fanham, Surrey.
This is the larger of two medieval stone bridges at Tilford, part of
the Waverley Abbey series of constructions.
The bridges are now protected by Scheduled Ancient Monument
status.
This mediaeval packhorse bridge is one of a series on the Wey
between Farnham and Guildford which were probably built as a
group by the monks of Waverley Abbey in the 13th century.
