Old Fort Delhi India c1945

Old Fort Delhi India c1945
Located 4 km from Connaught Circus, South Delhi,
the walls of the Old Fort are 18 meters high at some points and
there are groups of holes arranged in patterns on the walls, which
were apparently meant to be nesting spaces for birds.
The Old Fort has three majestic gates: the Humayun Darwaza,
the Bara Darwaza, the Talaqi Darwaza.
The fort has an irregular octagonal shape. Old Fort is evidence to
the glory of the Mughal architecture.
The Purana Quila was built by Humayun in an attempt to build a
city of his own.
Old Fort is said to guard the ruins of the city of Indraprastha that
is mentioned in the Mahabharata.
