Painted Lady on Buddleia

A beautiful macro shot of the painted lady, Rosa. I have seen one of those yet this year. I have seen plenty of small tortoiseshells, peacocks and red admirals. Cheers, Joe

A very well captured pair of images Rosa. The Painted Lady is past its prime, but that is to be expected at this time of year, and it is still a beautiful little creature.

I really like both photos, but the one in the PiP just edges into the lead for my for the slightly better detail in the eyes!

Good to see your Buddleia still flowering.......mine have been dead and gone for a while now. The only butterflies I've seen the the garden lately have been Cabbage Whites and very few of those as well.

I would have loved to get a picture when it was in its prime Keith, but this is the first PL I have seen in my garden this year. Thank you for your kind comment, and yes, still a little beauty.

I thought I had seen the last of any flowers on the buddleia, but it suddenly started sprouting again! The flowers still haven't lasted very long and like you, it has been mainly cabbage whites around it!
