Bruton, Somerset.

Bruton, Somerset.
After finding a new walk in Bruton and wondering where it would finish, it was at the library, so here is the picture. The blue building was a restaurant, but I think its future is uncertain.

It was a new walk in a town I thought I knew George, but seem to find interesting walks each time I visit. Too hot to go anywhere today!

A lovely old building. I like the rainbow and the greenery on the roof. Hope it's not too hot with you. We've been OK up till now but it's been a bit much today. I'm going to have to find a sunhat.

Thank you Jean. The Post Office is also in this building now with the library.

Bruton Library looks lovely, Rosa. I love the different styles of architecture in this scene. I hope the blue restaurant survives the lockdown, as it looks like a nice place to have lunch. Cheers, Joe

Thank you Joe. The restaurant is symmetrical so has another section of blue hidden in this shot. It remains to be seen whether it survives or not unfortunately. Take care. Cheers, Rosa.

Nicely composed Rosa. I love the look of the library, especially the stonework - and the painted rainbow. I like the blue of the restaurant frontage as well - I hope it survives!

I know what you mean about the heat.........it's roasting here too. I went out for a walk with a mate yesterday morning, but just a quick trip to the shop and back today for groceries.

I hope you're enjoying the week.

Thank you Keith. I have tried to get a good shot of the library before but had not thought of this angle, so the new walk brought me to the right place :-)

I was going to do my weekly shop today, but couldn't bear the thought of it in this heat, so will have to wait until tomorrow. Sounds like you got your trip done early. I certainly wouldn't want to go to Bournemouth!!! Crazy crowds down there!

Take care and keep cool!

A fine building on the left there Rosa. I presume that is the library. The restaurant, like so many in these small villages must be at some risk after months of closure. We hear every day, how all these small businesses that made Britain so famous are shutting up shop forever. A great pity and I have the feeling that once gone, never to be replaced. -Enjoy your walks my friend.

Herb

ps another day in and around the garden for us in this heat. You could not pay me to go to those beaches NOR an Oldham Rave!!!!!

Yes that is the library on the left Herb and now houses the post office. There are a couple of excellent restaurants in Bruton which I hope will survive, but it's going to be very difficult. No wide pavements outside either.

I definitely couldn't have walked anywhere today. I feel the same as you! I think it's going to be cooler over the weekend and that will suit me fine :-)

Take care, Rosa.

Assuming it's a conservation area I wonder how they got permission for the blue paint. Seeing your comment to Keith about Bournemouth i did wonder if I dare take a photo from a paper and put it on here , there is one of Southend that it just as bad getting paid by the government not a care in the world other than the pubs opening and will they be able to go on holiday, what virus ????

Most of the buildings in the High Street are listed. I love the blue. I think if you saw it in context with the shops adjoining it, you would probably approve. I'm missing many aspects of lockdown :-(

I had a client called Pam Bruton (many years ago). I asked her in all innocence if her husband's family came from Somerset. She had no idea what I was talking about! Some people amaze me; no curiosity at all!
Love the shot, Rosa.

That name sounds familiar...probably for obvious reasons though! In the 1970's no one wanted to live in Bruton, and now everyone does!! So many 'celebrities' but I have never seen any of them ;-))

The blue restaurant really stands out from the rest of the mellow stonework here, Rosa. Yes - there will be many restaurants that won't survive the pandemic. Our one and only local pub may shut for good.

The Blue building is so beautiful Amelia. It's symmetrical and I love the blue. It remains to be seen if it opens again and the same goes for the pub in my village. It's going to be a difficult year all round!!

Hi Rosa

It is always nice to see these old buildings in the little villages.

I do feel sad for the owners of these little restaurants. They have practically no hope of working under even the relaxed lockdown conditions..

Best Wishes, HFF, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
Peter

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter_Private_Box club
Hi Peter,

It has become a very popular town to live in recently Peter. It has three good schools and the Houser & Wirth Gallery and complex has brought a lot of people to the town, so there is hope that many of the shops and restaurants will survive. I hope so anyway.

Thank you for your kind comments.

Best wishes & good weekend,
Rosa.
