Oldest Post Box ~ Holwell

Oldest Post Box ~ Holwell
On this day in 2014 I was driving Sophie to see her other gran, when I remembered this old post box and made a small detour...She was not very impressed as you can see!

It is the oldest post box in England (1853) and I believe it is still in use. It is octagonal and has a vertical, hinged opening. Made by John M Butters, Gloucester.

Bill Robinson / kinderbill, John Goodwin, Sylvain Wiart, Sarah O' and 41 other people have particularly liked this photo

Fabulous photo Rosa, Sophie a bit older now. Wish you all well in these abnormal times, be glad when this goes back where it came from! All OK here...All the best, Bill.

Thank you Bill. Yes she's a big girl now. I think the same, but glad you and your family are keeping well. Best wishes, Rosa.

Hi Rosa. Not seen this from you before. A great shot of young Sophie too. The letter box looks as if it is sealed to me but... Well worth sharing. Thanks a lot.

Cheers. Herb

If I remember rightly, it was still in use and the letterbox flap opened to post a letter.
Very pleased you like it, and young Sophie is now 14, but just as gorgeous ;-)
Cheers, Rosa.
