Marrakesch – Jemaa el-Fna
Der Djemaa el Fna ist der zentrale Marktplatz in Marrakesch, Marokko. Die Bedeutung des Namens ist umstritten. Im Arabischen heisst Djemaa el Fna etwa Versammlung der Toten. Dieser Name kommt daher, dass die Sultane zur Zeit der Almohaden den Platz als Hinrichtungsstätte nutzten und aufgespiesste Köpfe hier zu Schau stellten.
Heute wird der Platz wegen seiner orientalischen Atmosphäre von Touristen und Einheimischen gleichermassen geschätzt. So herrscht an den Abenden ein wildes Treiben mit Gauklern und Schlangenbeschwörern, Geschichtenerzählern, Wahrsagerinnen sowie Künstlern und Musikern, ferner gibt es Verkaufsstände, an denen kulinarische Spezialitäten der Region gereicht werden.

Udo, ja, Casablanca fehlt mir noch. Ich war damals nur in Südmarokko. Aber ich kann es mir gut vorstellen. Bei Casablanca kommt einem ja immer der gleichnamige Film in den Sinn; vor allem in unserer Generation :-)

Auf unserer Wohnmobilreise durch Marokko haben wir viele Stunden auf diesem Platz verbracht. Zuerst beobachteten wir von der Dachterrasse des Café de France das bunte Treiben, und später mischten wir und unter die Märchenerzähler, Medizinmänner und Schlangenbeschwörer. Es war einer der faszinierendsten Plätze unserer Reisen.
Dein Foto regte mich an, mein Reisetagebuch wieder einmal hervorzuholen, Poly.

Uli, mir ist es eben gleich ergangen: die Bilder von => Heidiho haben mich inspiriert, wieder mal in meinen Marokko-Bildern zu stöbern. Die waren alle auch in Panoramio zu sehen :-)

Ja, das stimmt. Aber da dürfte man in viele andere Länder auch nicht gehen. Z.B auch nicht in den Vatikan! ;-)

Da war ich seit 40 Jahren nicht mehr;-) Ich denke, es gibt so viele interessante Reiseziele, dass man sich einfach die auswählen kann, wo man sich wohlfühlt.

Mir scheint es gibt viele Turisten , Frauen auch und alles ist normal. Ich würde gerne dort gehen.Es ist schade dass man in einige Plätze gefährlich ist..Wenn auch , wenn man denkt, ist Paris auch gefährlich, oder London.

Daniela, ich denke, dass es an so touristischen Plätzen wie hier nicht gefährlicher ist als an vielen Orten in Europa auch. Vielleicht ist es ein erhöhtes Risiko, wenn du allein als Frau gehst. Du musst einfach einen Mann mitnehmen :-)

Keinen Mann, ich war vor Jahren in Tunesien und zweimal in Türkei mit 2 Freundinnen und wir hatten keine Probleme.Aber jetzt ist es anders, das war vor vielen Jahren.

ENVY, thy name is JANET! What FUN it would be to sit and stare at the show! Reminds me of a totally contrived but equally fabulous place to people-watch: Las Vegas. So many fun times to sit and stare at the incredible variety of people!
