Pencilmania

Pencilmania
Designer's Saturday Langenthal – Mühlehof
Ausstellung für Design in Langenthal, Schweiz (alle zwei Jahre).

Installation aus 9'830 Bleistiften.
Hochschule Luzern – Design & Kunst.
Erstellt durch 8 Studentinnen und Studenten im Rahmen des Interdisziplinären IDA-Moduls "Ausstellungsgestaltung".

Konzept:

B.K., vielen Dank!

Wally, thanks a lot!
Well, when pronouncing "pencil" then "vania" and thus "mania" is the logical consequence ;-)

OH! I just read your description. I had thought it looked like pencils, but then thought it couldn't be!

Diane, it's amazing, isn't it? This students did an amazing job!

Here an English translation of the German text above (Goolge sometimes is a bit funny):
Installation made of 9'830 pencils, hanging on threads from the ceiling.
Lucerne University of Applied Sciences – Design & Art.
Created by 8 students within the framework of the interdisciplinary IDA module "Exhibition Design".

Concept:
In a nutshell.
When a new project starts, ideas have to be sorted, rejected and sorted. Mostly the pencil gives our thoughts a first form, puts them on paper and is the translation from head to hand. One of the easiest and quickest ways to visualize an idea is to record it with a pencil.

With an installation of countless pencils we want to show this process. Starting from a pen near the ground, one can look at the spreading swarm of ideas. Conversely, one recognizes how the ideas of the work process are slowly cleared, the view sharpened and focused.

Janet, thanks a lot! Yes, this was an amazing installation! You could watch it from all sides. Even from below, as you can see at the person which is weakly recognizable left of the middle.
