Poor Pitiful Otis

Poor Pitiful Otis
Otis had a tumor removed from his foot and is wearing the collar supposedly to keep him from getting at the wound. He only had one stitch, but two days after the surgery despite having the collar, he managed to get at it and tear out the stitch while I was watering plants in the greenhouse. Now I will not let him out of my sight until he has had more time to heal. I have been keeping the collar on because it slows him down when he tries to get at the incision, giving me time to tell him no!

Ohhhhhh Otisssssssssssssssssss !!!!!

HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I had a soft collar for Flix but he was really good.. and I also used a sock with the toe cut out so it went up his thigh.

BUT... vet wrap a sock on Otis's foot.... it works really well.... I do that when Flix has a sore foot.

I buy babies socks from the dollar store ..........

Otis cannot stand to have a dressing on his foot. So I have left it off, but it's been a trial trying to keep him from getting at the incision. Left the collar off today and kept an eye on him. Unfortunately, I dosed off for a few minutes and he got at it and opened it up a little so I put a dressing on it. When I took him out for a walk, it made him walk funny. He kept lunging at the leg, freezing, and growling at me when I forced him off. Before I could get him back in the house, he finally succeeded on tearing the dressing off, so the collar is going back on. Sigh.

Otis' tumor has been found to be benign. A huge relief, but we are still struggling with the healing process because he won't leave the incision site along, but I think we are finally turning the corner.
