Rose Window

Rose Window
Westminster Abbey, London, England - The huge rose window tops the north transept which is supported by series of flying buttresses. All the stonework is from a 19th century restoration and only indicates in a general way the detail that was there before. The original abbey completed in 1065 was replaced by Henry III. The work was begun in 1245 and continued until 1267 when funds ran out. It did not begin again until a century later and continued on and off until 1506. Scanned 35mm negative. (Eng 24018)
