Waterloo Sunset 29.11.2007 Photographed from the approach to Waterloo Bridge, alongside the Hayward Gallery. That presumably accounts for the image of a wood pecker, seen in close-up to the edge of the photo.

This view has already changed radically and that station is undergoing a complete rebuilding with the platforms that served stations further into London - Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Waterloo East & Blackfriars - being turned into terminus platforms and the existing terminus platforms serving the through trains.

The Thames Barrier in the background protects London from flooding by tidal surges and high winds.

Photos taken on the way home from a family gathering in East London. As I got off the bus to London Bridge Station, a stop early, to take some snaps of night views up and down the river Thames, I spotted these cranes lit up high above the city streets.

The structure in the foreground is a water feature - water trickles across the flat top surface and down the sides.

Originally prepared for uploadiing to another site to show a contrast with a very rural model railway layout with a station named Walworth Road, I thought why not upload it here as well.

Blackfriars Railway Station used to be at the right-hand end of the bridge. When longer Thameslink trains were introduced to the route, that runs under central London, from Brighton and Sevenoaks in the south to Peterborough and Cambridge, way to the north of London, the station was extended right across the bridge, with entrances at both ends. One Blackfriars Road is the skyscraper with the bulge on one side.
