London Overground Whitechapel station 25 2 2023

London Overground Whitechapel station 25 2 2023
Lots of modern plumbing on a really old, 1876, station.

John FitzGerald, Peter Castell, Fred Fouarge and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Leaving the utilities exposed seems to be the modern way. The other platform looks better but this one is like Birmingham New Street a fortune was spent on the building but not the basic problem of the platforms being to narrow

The platforms on this station vary in depth as they seem to have been widened a bit where they could be, but where there are structures in place that can't be moved, they are narrower. In the older station, now called Surrey Quays, a couple of stops down the line, the platforms are even narrower. in places. www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/46348028
