HJS log book15 8 1964 pages 1&2
Uploaded in response to a query in Vintage Photos Theme Park. www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/50008194 The numbers are the numbers of the engines themselves. Ones with D in front are diesels, the rest are steam. Some of each also have names. These were at that time only given to engines primarily used for passenger express trains. This was the period of transition from steam to diesel. By the end of the 1960s steam engines had been phased out. The small letter/number combinations in the centre of the page showed to which motive power depot each engine was allocated. Barrow Road was one of two major MPDs in Bristol. It served the lines running to the midlands and north. The other was the former Great Western MPD at Bath Road, near the principal Bristol station at Temple Meads.
These pages come from Dad's neatly kept log books, which he wrote up at home, from the notes he made on his journeys.
