Frost Fair Southwark Bridge 17 9 2006 05
This group of five engraved slate panels are on the Thames riverside walk, under Southwark Bridge. They record the times when the Thames froze over for lengthy periods and fairs were held on the ice. They were engraved by Richard Kindersley. I haven't yet established who commissioned them.
The lighting is quite difficult, particularly for this panel, as it is near the western entrance. The slate surface and the incised lettering and images are also difficult to see face on. That is why most are reproduced with odd corners missing, as the perspective correction software leaves them with unsquare corners.
