This classy looking car came along just as I was about to put my camera away to do my shopping in Lidl's. Fading out the background makes its lines stand out from its surroundings.

Thanks Angela. I use the Elliptical Marquee Tool in Photoshop Elements as a sort of french curve to cut around the subject. I find that that works better than trying to do it with a series of connected points. If you use the edge of the ellipse to erase against, with the shape rounded or flattened as needed, you can get away with minor inaccuracies in the cropping because it looks nice and smooth.
