Burnham-on-Sea was at the end of the Somerset & Dorset line from Evercreech Junction. There the line joined the main line between Bath and Bournemouth. In its later years - the 1950s & 60s its busiest times were on summer Saturdays when holiday makers travelled from the Midlands to Bournemouth and other south coast resorts. Bank Holidays saw the arrival of day excursions like the one above, from both north and south via Evercreech.
1962 was the end of all this for the Highbridge to Burnham section with the last train on 8th of September, once the Summer traffic ceased.
