Compass Bus' new Optare Solo YJ12 PLX at Kingsmead - Seaford - 15.8.2012
The Rider services are supported by East Sussex County Council.
These new buses are a mixed blessing, with only room for one or two unfolded buggies (depending on the size) and no luggage area. They have a good number of seats at ground floor level, but the 'disabled persons' seats' on the near side have a post which makes stowing a 'walker' difficult. The seats on the right side seem to have been mounted too far forward on their subframes, as there are little projecting frame ends which can catch your knees, if you are a lofty lad like me.
They are wider and longer, with a limited steering lock, so are taking longer to manoeuvre around the residential streets that the 119 route follows. Oh and the view from the middle of the bus is obscured by the Rider logo. Surely it could have been smaller or lower.
