Thank you, TLC. Some years ago I read something about modern Korean minimalist abstract art (Lord knows where I read it or why. Probably idle surfing without any impetus or direction) and kept some internet images from the post-war Dansaekhwa movement. Apparently “Dansaekhwa” means “monochrome painting”, and this idea stuck in my head when I was looking at this picture. The original shot is not much different from this version, just a little darkening and increased contrast. (Please excuse me for being a pretentious sod. I think I'm just getting old.)

I think I can see the face you mean, but then I too have been drinking too many espressos today and have now switched to Shiraz so maybe we are both too intellectually impaired to judge. Lovely to read your thoughts, though, whatever condition you’re in.
