One of the last pictures I took from the deck of our cabin before my parents sold it that summer.

We would have preferred to keep it, but there were a number of factors that forced us to let go of it after 50 years.

That sure looks nice. I've always thought it would be nice to have a cabin like that. More to maintain and take care of though- just like having another house, I guess.

Yes, it was a nice getaway - and yes there were chores around the cabin, just like a house - mowing that sloped lawn, setting out / putting away the patio stuff, opening up the cabin in the spring and shutting everything down in the fall...

That sidewalk in front of the porch...! My dad and grandpa did not agree about how it should have been built. Dad argued for having it built as a series of long steps while Grandpa thought a single slab was good enough. Walking down, it's not so bad, but coming back up, one definitely feels the effort needed to make it up that sidewalk!
