Sioux Valley Energy & Otter Tail Power - Moody County, SD

Sioux Valley Energy & Otter Tail Power - Moody County, SD
Dunno how Otter Tail managed this - their 7200V line out of the Lonetree sub sharing a pole with one of Sioux Valley Energy's main 12.5kV lines.

I've seen utilities sharing poles in some places before--lots of it in Georgia. Can make for some interesting setups sometimes.

The original guideline for REAs stipulated they couldn't build lines into areas already being served by other companies, so am not sure whose was first - Otter Tail or Sioux Valley.

The primary meter was a recent addition after the sub was relocated - the 7200V side is spread out over several poles.
