Duct bank running there?

Yup! All the distribution circuits will be leaving the Weber Ave. replacement sub underground.

Interesting. In comparison here I believe the only duct banks are in the old part of downtown St. Cloud, which come out of that substation (Empire Park) that was recently taken out of service. I believe the duct system is how NSP/ Xcel was able to replace all the downtown distribution with 34.5 kV rather sneakily without me noticing until the last 4 kV circuit was taken out of service. I think there is even a large square vault in the middle of the road where the conduits change direction. There might also be another shorter one coming out of one of the 13.8 kV subs.

One thing I noticed when I was checking things out in the 'Cities is there is TONS of duct banks running everywhere down there. It would appear that they even have 115 kV running in some of them.

I hope not! :) Although I have a pic of a manhole cover cast for this company's predecessor (see www.ipernity.com/doc/ndlinegeek/18849251), I grabbed this shot simply because I hadn't expected to see such a new name on one of these covers (NSP became Xcel in 2000)!
