Howard, SD municipal yard

Howard, SD municipal yard
After the Howard, SD municipal utility completed converting their system from 2400V delta to 12.5kV, all their old transformers were gathered in one spot waiting for a transformer shop to collect these. I actually had a chance to buy one of these cans (they were selling them to the shop at $4 per kVA) which meant I could have had one for a mere $20! But the problem of transporting one of these (especially to a third-floor walkup apartment) made getting these impossible.

Tony Glen, Jesse Lor, SW Ohio Lines have particularly liked this photo

Those three iron GE cans must've been from when Howard, SD was first electrified.

Did you by any chance get to look at one of their name plates?

I agree - probably from WAY back when Howard was a Cengas town. Yes I did get a shot of the nameplate but it was blurry and the next chance I had to go back up, the gate was locked and the transformers gone. :(
