ITC Midwest - Jackson County, MN

ITC Midwest - Jackson County, MN
Thought this was a pretty neat transmission sub - splits one 161kV line into several 69kV lines; this is the former Interstate Power Co. transmission sub near Heron Lake.

ITC was formed when several utilities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan transferred their bulk transmission lines to a new company that would have the responsibility for the upkeep of that system - think of it as the investor-owned utility's equivalent of a G&T coop.

Jesse Lor, Tony Glen, Lewis Perkins and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

So this is the sub with those quad-stacker insulators! Definitely a fine shot of it too. I wonder when it went up?

Who knows. I've asked Alliant for history information and they simply shooed me away. The only history "book" they ever published is a mere 16 pages.

I always enjoy seeing these stackers inside subs!
