I need to get better pictures of this sub - and soon! This is the muni's 'Algonquin' sub. It likely went up in the late '70s to allow the muni to retire the engines in the plant; the two retired cubicles put out 2400V delta while the left one is still in service for now (it puts out 13.8kV) to serve the lighting and water treatment plants - as soon as they can figure how to take an outage, I'll bet they will switch the one circuit over to a now-idled riser over by the 'Elm' sub.

This sub is headed for the Graveyard as the city has budgeted for a conversion of the transmission line from 69kV to 115kV in 2016 / 17 - in spite of that new switching pole there, I don't think it or the Algonquin sub will survive the 115kV conversion.

SW Ohio Lines, Lewis Perkins, Tony Glen and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

I bet there's lots of treats in that sub to photograph!

That is a cool looking setup. I remember the older pic that you have when those other bays were still up and running.

The Algonquin sub has been retired - the muni built a bypass from circuit 4 to Circuit 8, and the 69kV line is gone (soon to be replaced by a 115kV-capable line).
