Central Power Electric - Sherwood, ND (rural)

Central Power Electric - Sherwood, ND (rural)
I'd known of this sub but never saw it in person until now. This is one of two North Central Electric subs on MDU's system (there is a third on the 57kV system but it actually sits in OTP territory). The other one steps 57kV down to 12.47kV, but I'd long suspected this one stepped 57kV down to 24.9kV and I was proven correct when I saw the lines around the sub (standard 24.9kV construction - no different from what other line geeks have shown of coop lines out east so I didn't get pics).

What REALLY got my attention was the color of the transformer (and evidently 2 spares) and the regulators!!!

Power Lines, André J.(Lineman80), Justin S, Tony Glen have particularly liked this photo

Those are some GREEN transformers alright! Almost reminds me of the couple green cans I found up in Canada a while ago.

Yes, those appear to be spare transformers - evidently they are used in tandem if / when the main one develops trouble.

Central Power is building a new line to this sub this year to get it off MDU's system.
