Clarks chimney wall.
This magnificent Victorian chimney marks the site of the original Clarks shoe factory. Today the site is still owned by Clarks but has been converted to a modern outlet shopping centre, appropriately named Clarks Village. An updated museum is due to be opened within the next 18 months.

MaggsMep club has replied to Roger (Grisly) clubMaggsMep club has replied to Roger (Grisly) clubWe always bought Clarks shoes for the children as they measured their feet properly. Lovely soft leather - but that is progress I guess - soft plastic now in a lot of shoes!!!!!
Edna Edenkoben club has replied to Ecobird clubAnd sadly, you're so right about soft plastic these days instead of soft leather. It's really difficult to find those, and if you do, then it's an extremely thin layer of soft leather glued on top of some mesh fabric underneath. Solid leather...well, I guess if you're willing to pay a fortune, you can still get it :-(

in the shoe factory. Must say, I do enjoy the shopping village though.
